We're ideally looking for a local person
Over the years RopesDirect has evolved and grown into a successful and solid local company, in partnership with loyal long-standing staff. We are a family business that values its people and puts customer service first.
In summary: Working in busy warehouses dispatching rope, metal fittings and other goods to customers via our contract couriers. Preparing orders, maintaining an orderly work and warehouse environment and contributing where you can to a successful small, local business.
Your priority will be looking after our customers’ orders: locating the right products, cutting rope to length, packaging and preparing for dispatch. We will train you to splice, whip and apply metal fittings and to operate our machinery safely.
You will help with Goods In, stock management and other general duties in our two warehouses. We look for the highest standards of safety, particularly as we operate fork lift trucks and need to move large or bulky items throughout the day.
In time you may be able to help customers with their enquiries once you have sufficient experience with our products.
Attention to detail and taking great care in your work is essential. You'll work alongside colleagues but also be trusted to get on with the work, with a high degree of autonomy once you are trained and confident.
It’s interesting work, suitable for someone with a practical and ‘can-do’ attitude. The work involves a high level of physical activity and manual handling.
We need someone with a practical mind, who can learn hands-on tasks and carry them out with care and accuracy (for example you might be good at DIY, or have experience of working with rope in boating or landscape gardening etc). You'll need to be flexible and care about quality. And you'll need to be a friendly person who wants to join a small and busy team, dispatching ropes and other products to customers in the UK and beyond.
Ideally you will be a local person.
We are a small and successful family business where people are valued.
Working hours 8am-5pm (4pm Fridays) with breaks. Starting salary £24,770, rising after a 6-month probation period.
20 days’ annual leave (five days are taken at Christmas) plus Bank Holidays.
Contributory pension.
Format: Your CV and a short letter stating how you suit this role. Please tell us: What experience in your life or work can you bring to RopesDirect, why do you think you are a great candidate for this job.
