Looking for an alternative to steel wire? Or maybe you just need a really strong rope?
HMPE is the ideal product – and here at RopesDirect, we’re one of the UK’s leading stockists. HMPE stands for High Modulous Polyethylene, and we have a comprehensive range of HMPE ropes available, including a selection of the well-known ‘Dyneema® ropes’ by Kingfisher. All of which are priced affordably and ready for dispatch. So why not browse our collection today?
More information to help you choose can be found at the bottom of this page - look out for our film testing a 4mm cord to destruction... and comparing that to 4mm HMPE!
Our HMPE ropes are divided into two main categories:
This is a range of braided HMPE ropes, manufactured by Kingfisher, and which feature Dyneema® (the world’s strongest ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene).
The most popular product in this category includes the Evolution Race 78. This is available in 3-5mm in red, blue and black. It’s sold by the metre and in 100m reels. And it benefits from both a Dyneema® SK78 12-strand coated core and a high-tenacity (HT) Braided Polyester cover.
In addition, we stock 8mm and 10mm Dyneema® Cruise in red and blue – again, by the metre and on 100m reels.
As part of our online HMPE collection, we also offer 12-strand HMPE rope. This has a Polyurethane (PU) coating – to help reduce abrasion and extend its lifespan – and comes heat set and pre-stretched. We always have 3-12mm ropes in stock. But it’s also possible to request larger diameters, up to 48mm, at short notice and in longer continuous lengths of up to 3,000m. So if you have a particular requirement, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Whichever option you choose, quality is guaranteed. These are high-performance, superior products that boast a range of useful properties. For example, all of our HMPE and Dyneema® ropes have an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. In fact, HMPE is one of the strongest ropes available to buy.
They’re also durable, resistant to water, chemicals, UV rays and abrasion. They float on water, are low-stretch and low-creep, and self-lubricating. And you can splice them! Which is why they're used in many different environments such as boating, shipping and forestry.
We’re a hub of knowledge, here at RopesDirect. Further detailed information on HMPE can be found in our blog ‘HMPE – in focus’, which includes everything you need to know to make an informed decision about your purchase. It’s also worth taking a look at our handy online tool, RopeFinder. This should help to narrow down your search and determine if HMPE rope is the right option for your needs.
