Tiger rope

Tiger rope – a purrfect addition to our polysteel rope collection

Here’s a new product for you to pounce on.

Tiger rope.

Sold by the metre, on reels and in coils, in diameters ranging from 8-24mm.

This is the latest addition to our polysteel rope collection. Another fantastic choice for agricultural, marine and industrial applications, where a highly superior product is demanded – it boasts all the same ‘trademark’ features which make standard polysteel rope so popular.

So it begs the question – why are we introducing it?

As a customer, why opt for the feline variety?

Well, let’s take a closer look at what makes tiger rope so grrreat.

A roar-some design

Tiger rope available at RopesDirect

It’s not so much the elephant in the room, as it is the tiger in the room.

Constructed from three strands of polysteel – two yellow, one black. Our new tiger rope certainly has a very bright and striking design. In fact, this is what differentiates it from the other products currently available in our polysteel collection.

The eye-catching aesthetic significantly improves visibility, therefore making it a great option for applications where high visibility is key. For example, it’s perfect for working in low-light conditions or when the rope really needs to stand out against a particular background.

A tiger never changes its stripes

Aside from its obvious distinctive appearance, the features of our tiger rope are pretty much the same as any other polysteel rope. Which means, you can enjoy all the advantages usually associated with this type of rope – just with the added bonus of superior visibility.

  • Strength

Fur the record, tiger polysteel rope doesn’t contain any steel – but it’s still ferociously tough.

It’s made from a combination of polypropylene and polyethylene. Both of which are pretty strong materials in their own right – so when you put them together, this strength is amplified. So much so, polysteel is approximately 25-30% stronger than its two constituent parts.

As a result of this strength, it also has a high minimum break load.

Our tiger rope manufacturer advises that a 24mm rope (the largest in our online range) has an approximate minimum breaking strength of 9400kg. i.e. the equivalent of at least thirty male tigers, plus a particularly chunky house cat!

And the best bit? None of this strength or muscle is lost when it gets wet.

  • Durability

Manufactured to ISO 1346:2012 and ISO 9554:2010 standards, our tiger rope is of the highest possible quality, and is designed and made with durability and longevity in mind.

It can certainly withstand wear and tear.

Thanks to its tightly woven fibres, it is highly robust and benefits from superior abrasion resistance – reducing friction and dirt ingress. It demonstrates fierce resistance to rot and mildew, excellent UV protection and is impervious to harsh chemicals and fluids.

Pawsitively perfect for use in wet, harsh conditions.

  • Low density

Our tiger rope is relatively lightweight and has a low-density construction (with a density of 0.94). Meaning, it easily floats on water and is ideal for marine-based applications.

  • Economical

A ‘big cat’ rope, without the big price tag.

RopesDirect is an exclusively online supplier. Which means, we’re able to save a great deal on overheads – and pass those savings on to you. And thanks to our fantastic relationships with manufacturers, we can offer the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices.

Currently, our tiger polysteel rope starts from just 30p per metre or 22p/metre if you buy a discount 220m coil.

For a high-performance product that doesn’t compromise on quality, it offers roar-some value for money. And as we sell it by the metre, reel and coil, you can either stock up at a discount price or just buy what you need as you go along – helping to stay in line with your budget.

Is a tiger rope right for my needs?

Some of the most common uses for tiger polysteel rope include:

  • Agriculture

Forget about tigers, tiger rope is made for cows. It’s commonly purchased as a replacement rope for cattle shed scraping systems. Tried and tested by savvy dairy farmers, it can successfully withstand the wet, dirty conditions of slurry – and ensures the livestock shed scraper is working as efficiently and effectively as possible. Further information on this can be found in our previous blog.

  • Marine applications

Tiger polysteel rope is frequently used on fishing boats, and for mooring and anchoring.

  • Industrial applications

An excellent choice for heavy duty work in yards, factories and other industrial premises where its strength and resilience are valued.

  • Barrier ropes

It’s used for marking out areas and defining boundaries (e.g. crowd control) because it’s so visible– black and yellow is often used for hazard warning.

All of the above are applications in which the striking design of tiger rope – and the high visibility this creates – give it a slight advantage over standard green or white polysteel rope.
