Kids nowadays seem to spend more time in front of a screen than anywhere else. Computer games, the TV and internet have taken over the great outdoors. And whilst things like the web are great, your kids still need the exercise and fresh air 4 walls don’t provide.
So how can you get them back into the garden?
Here we’re going to look at 4 ways that you can make the garden more fun for your children.
Garden swings – They’re a classic that remain as popular as ever in parks up and down the country. If you have a sturdy tree in your backyard then grab hold of one of our oak swings, attach it and let your little one have the time of their lives. Remember though, you’re probably going to have to be the one pushing them.
Treehouse – There’s nothing more exciting to a child than the idea of having their own play space. And what’s cooler than a treehouse? The kids won’t want to spend any more time behind a screen when they have a treehouse to climb about in. Just make sure you have a sturdy rope ladder so that they’re safe climbing in there!
A vegetable patch – It’s important that your kids leave the house and it’s important that they eat healthy. So why not encourage them to do a little gardening with you out back? They can have their own little plot and grow a few foods of their choice. Educational and fun.
Sports – Rather than they kick a ball about on a game, invite them into the yard to play Frisbee or football. You can get hold of relatively cheap sports equipment nowadays. The only tick is, you need to figure out which sport they enjoy to play most.
So if you want your children to enjoy the outdoors a little more, why not try one of, or all of, the above!
