We sell rope swings for kids, and all you need to hang them from a tree branch.
In fact with RopesDirect it is child’s play. We believe in hanging a rope swing the easy way!
We’ve produced two videos that show you what to do, step by step.
One is about hanging a ‘monkey swing’ – which is a seat suspended on a single rope – and the other is about hanging a two-rope swing seat. Both videos are on YouTube.
As we write this it is mid-March, the sun is shining and the sky is summertime blue. Now is the time to get your kids’ rope swing up and …. swinging.
At first thought, hanging a rope swing may not seem straightforward. How do you get the ropes even? How do you adjust them so the seat is the right height? What connections work best?
We advise buying one of our ready-made swing sets and also one or two Extension Ropes. You use the Extension Rope/s to wind around the tree branch then simply attach the swing rope using the ready-to-go quick links.
As well as our videos, we’ve got it all written down with a diagram. When you see it you’ll realise it really is easy. You just need the right kit and a little know-how. We are pleased to supply both!
How long do our rope swings take to hang?
Not the best at DIY? Or maybe you just don’t fancy a big project?
Good news – you don’t need to spend hours researching “how to make a rope swing” online or waste your weekends drilling and sawing. Because we’ve done the hard work for you!
All of our rope swings come complete with a pre-prepared swing sweat and pre-spliced ropes. They’re designed with easy installation in mind. And thanks to our YouTube tutorials and step-by-step written guide, you’ll have all the information you need to get the job done in no time.
Even if you’re a handiwork amateur, it shouldn’t take longer than 15-20 minutes.
Do I need extension ropes?
This depends on the height of the tree branch you’ve selected.
Our ready-made rope swings vary in length from approximately 1-2 metres.
Therefore, to determine if you require extension ropes (and if so, which length), we recommend taking some measurements. First measure the circumference of the branch itself. Then measure the distance between the branch and the height of your swing seat and add the two together.
This will give you the total rope length needed. We stock three sizes of extension rope: 1.2m, 1.8m and 2.4m. Simply choose the one that best fits and still allows you to make adjustments.
Are our rope swings safe?
Absolutely. Just because they’re quick and easy to hang, doesn’t mean our rope tree swings compromise on safety.
It’s important to choose your branch carefully, as certain tree types (e.g. fruit trees and evergreens) can be unsuitable. Plus, before letting your child use their new play equipment, it’s worth double-checking that all connections are secure – perhaps by testing it out yourself.
But please rest assured, all of our rope swings are manufactured to the very highest standard. They’ve also been tested and approved for domestic use – in line with strict UK safety measures – and can comfortably support users up to 70kg or 100kg (depending on the model chosen).
How much do ready-made rope swings cost?
Think the convenience of a pre-made rope swing must come at an expense?
Not at all – when you shop with us, that’s definitely not the case.
All of our rope swings are priced very competitively, starting from just £18.54 for a varnished hardwood swing seat to £223.20 for a solid oak design (October 2023). Extension ropes are charged separately. But again, as an exclusive online supplier, we can offer these at the best possible price.
What’s more, our delivery charges are minimal – or if you’d like to keep the cost down further, it’s possible to collect your new tree swing for free from our warehouse.
