Don’t monkey around when it comes to choosing the right rope!
Take Trentham Monkey Forest in Staffordshire, a 60-acre woodland that 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques call home. The sanctuary focuses on the conservation of this endangered primate. Visitors can walk the 3/4 mile path and be amazed as the monkeys live freely within the forest.
So it goes without saying that in a place like this, they need to make sure the fencing is right. To keep the humans in order 🙂
We’re really pleased to have supplied them with our synthetic sisal rope, which they’ve put to brilliant effect as post and rail. It sits well in the landscape.
Synthetic sisal is included in our decking range. It is smooth to the touch, light brown in colour and is made to look like a natural sisal rope, although a lot less hairy! Tough and durable, it will not shrink or rot. It is also UV stabilised – all making this a very long lasting outdoor rope.
In fact it is a ‘polysteel’ rope, made with a blend of Polypropylene and Polyethylene, making it stronger and tougher than regular Polypropylene.
Matt at Monkey Forest says: “I found the level of service fantastic. We ordered a lot of rope and although the order was initially difficult to fill because of the timescale, the team at RopesDirect phoned directly and ensured that our order was fulfilled within the tight timescale.
“We’re really pleased with the quality of the rope and it sits beautifully within our woodland setting. Highly recommended!”
Apparently the macaques are pretty impressed too. They are semi-wild; they are used to humans wandering around their forest but still live and behave naturally. This is a really important ethos which makes the park much more than just being a popular family attraction. Around 80% of what is known about Barbary macaque behaviour derives from scientific study conducted within their parks in Staffordshire and in France. They support the Primate Society of Great Britain as well as work to protect primates in the wild.
In many respects we hope you don’t really notice our rope in the Monkey Forest, as it blends into the scene and helps contribute to a brilliant family day out.
You can find it on the Trentham Estate in Tittensor, Stoke-on-Trent. Type ST12 9HR in your GPS.
