A back splice is a traditional way of stopping the ends of a rope from fraying and a great looking alternative to whipping the end.Â
Our craftsmen are able to back splice all of our 3 or 4 strand fibre ropes, although this service is not available with our braided or plaited ropes.
The cost of a back splice takes into account the extra rope required. For example, if you order a 4m rope with a back splice on one end, we use just over 4m of rope to allow us to do the splice, but the end product remains 4m.
Want to have a go yourself? It's a crown knot followed by 3 or 4 tucks and they're fun to do!
